While the last phone was a feature phone, which lacked the ability to run apps, this newest phone is a modern smartphone. The phone, which runs Android Lollipop 5.1, is special version of the Vertu Signature Touch, which itself debuted in September.
For the Bentley edition, the phone gained knurled side keys, a unique pillow rail and sound bar and a 3 dimensional Bentley emblem on the front. The phone is wrapped in two-tone Bentley leather: Beluga and Hotspur with Hotspur stitching.
Like its predecessors, this one includes exclusive content. A unique Bentley app keeps the phone’s owner in the know about special Bentley events. It also provides VIP access to events and the phone integrates with all Bentley models allowing control over functions like the climate control system.
The partnership has been good for both companies so far. Bentley has used it to deepen relationships with clients and Vertu has been successful in bringing first time customers to the brand. Speaking about this last point, Gordon Watson, Vertu VP Sales and Marketing, said, “The Vertu for Bentley products have been a phenomenal success. This is a partnership that has really sparked the imagination of luxury consumers and the models released so far have proved very desirable among our existing global customer base. However, nearly 40 per cent have been purchased by customers new to the Vertu brand.”
Following on from the success of the last phone, Vertu’s Made to Order option has also been made available on this new model. The Made to Order option allows the customer to personalize their phone with the choice of eight leather colours and 16 stitching options, thereby matching the phone to their Bentley. The phones are available now and will retail for approximately $9,000 US.
