Bentley Team Dyson Racing Bentley Continental GT3

Dyson Racing started out the week behind the eight ball with their #20 Bentley Continental severely damaged after an incident and penalty filled weekend in Long Beach, CA last weekend.  The team was hopeful that the car would be ready for this weekend’s race, but it wasn’t meant to be.  #20’s driver, Butch Leitzinger, had to miss the race without a car.

Their remaining entry, the #16 car, driven by Chris Dyson of Pleasant Valley, N.Y., qualified well for Round 6 of the Pirelli World Challenge.  From the 11th position on Saturday, Dyson raced well to finish 6th, setting the stage for Sunday.

For Sunday’s Round 7, cars earn their starting spots based on fastest lap times from Saturday.  This put Dyson in 8th for the event.  Dyson worked his way through the crowd, but it wasn’t meant to be.  A mechanical failure on lap 19 brought the Bentley Continental GT3 into the pits.  Dyson would awarded 29th place, seven laps down from the lead lap at the end of the timed race.

Chris Dyson is currently 11th in driver points, while Bentley is seventh in manufacturer points.  The team now heads north of the border to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario, for rounds 8 & 9 on May 15-17.
