Bentley Motorsport has announced a return to the Bathurst 12 Hours next month in Australia.  Bentley will be entering two Continental GT3s in the event on February 5-7th.  After teasing fans on Twitter a month ago, Bentley today unveiled the car’s new livery for 2016.   2016 Bentley Continental GT3

The new color scheme continues the use of green, but this year it comes in a darker green, like the shade used on all of Bentley’s Le Man winning cars.  The dark shade is accented with a bright, light green in a shape that recalls the Union Jack, the national flag of the United Kingdom.  This imagery replaces the Union Jack that was featured just behind the front tire of last year’s car.  Other details for 2016 come from the 2016 road car including the Flying B front fender vent.

Bentley had a great weekend at Bathurst last year, only to have a podium finish stolen at the last corner during a questionable pass by a competitor.  The team is eager to get back at it.  Guy Smith, who will return in the #10 Bentley said, “Once you have raced in Bathurst 12 Hours, you have an overwhelming desire to go back and conquer it. We came so close last year and, although it was disappointing to so narrowly miss the podium, it has given us confidence for our return.”

Joining Smith will be Steven Kane and Matt Bell.  The #8 car will be piloted by Andy Soucek, Maxime Soulet, and Aussie V8 star David Russell.  These teams have history in the car together.  Combined with the experience Bentley gained in endurance racing last season makes Team Bentley a formidable opponent.

“We return to Mount Panorama looking to get the podium result that we so narrowly missed out on last year,” said Bentley’s Director of Motorsport, Brian Gush. “As with any new event for the team, we went there looking to learn as much as we could so we could go back better in year two. Our line-up is very strong and David Russell’s experience here should help us immensely, so we’re feeling quietly confident.”
