Eighty-five years after three-time Le Mans winner and Bentley Chairman Captain Woolf Barnato famously raced the ‘Blue Train’ from Cannes to Calais, modern day Bentley Boy, Steven Kane, has completed a Blue Train Race inspired race against a passenger train. The 4 1/14 hour event took place along a 480km route from Riyadh to Dammam in Saudi Arabia along the Arabian gulf.
Kane chose a new Continental GT V8 S Convertible for the event that took place on August 15th in temperatures that exceeded 120º. Kane beat the train to its final destination by six minutes, taking 4 hours and 14 minutes to complete the course.
Afterwards, Kane, who drives a Continental GT3 for Bentley Team M-Sport, said: “Four hours is the same time as a stint at Le Mans. But this was far more stressful. The heat, the conditions, not knowing where the train was, while driving within the limits of the country’s regulations. It was a race like no other. I hope Barnato would be proud.”
It’s a pretty fun little video. Check it out below.
