To commemorate the launch of the Bentley Continental GT V8 in 2012, Bentley went to their partner, Breitling, to develop a watch based on the new car. The watch looks like a Breitling with a little Bentley styling in the form of the classic Bentley knurling that makes up the bezel of the watch. The only other foreward facing reference to the two manufacturers relationship is the printed “Bentley” on the dial beneath the Breitling text and logo.
The Breitling GMT V8 has a 49mm, stainless steel case. It is styled with the same red color that Bentley uses on their badging for the new V8 car (the 12 cylinder Bentleys have black on the surround on the Flying B badge.)
The GMT V8’s functions include a 1/8th second chronograph, 6 hour, 15 minutes, and 30 second counters, and a 24 hour second timezone display. The watch has a screw down crown, a sapphire crystal and is water resistant to 100m. The dial is Royal Ebony in color with applied markers. The strap is a comfortable, sporty, and practical high quality rubber strap.
Powered by Breitling’s Calibre Breitling 47B movement the watch is no slouch in movement pedigree. The 47B movement is COSC certified, self-winding (automatic), features 28 jewels and beats at 4hz (28,800 vibrations per hour.)
The Breitling for Bentley GMT V8 is limited to 250 pieces.
