The race winning legacy of the Continental GT3 continued this weekend as the GT Asia Series came to a conclusion in Thailand.  By the weekend’s conclusion, Bentley Team Absolute Racing would grab a couple podiums and the Team Championship.

Like they have campaigned all season, Bentley Team Absolute Racing entered three Continental GT3s in the weekend’s events. Adderly Fong and Keita Sawa, like their counterparts at Bentley Team HTP two weeks before, were within sight of the Driver’s Championship coming into the weekend creating excitement and pressure in the Bentley Paddock.

The weekend started strong for the trio of Bentleys as former Bentley works driver Duncan Tappy and Benny Simonsen qualified for pole position for the the first event of the weekend. The duo carried their qualifying performance through the race, dominating in Bentley fashion and winning.

With points and the championship on the line, Fong and Sawa took to the course on Sunday with a good start. Fong bobbled slightly with his Bentley, giving up a shot at the lead. At the conclusion, Fong and Sawa would finish third with Simonson and Tappy immediately behind them.

It was Bentley’s second season racing the Continental GT3 in GT Asia and they finished first the Team Championship and Fong and Sawa finished second in the Drivers Championship.

“We are thrilled to have won the team title in our inaugural season of racing in the GT Asia Series, and to have shown the strength and speed of Bentley Team Absolute amongst such a competitive field,” said Absolute Racing director Ingo Matter.”

“Finishing runners-up in the Drivers Classification with Adderly and Sawa showed our consistency this year, while Duncan and Benny’s win in Car #77 in Round 10 was a great result.”
