Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 Live Reveal

Last year, Bentley dropped jaws when they pulled the cover off the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept car at the 2016 Geneva Auto Show.  Here we are 11 months later and the Speed 6 is still winning awards for its ‘perfect combination of aesthetics and precision’.

Now the concept car has been recognized by the German Design Council.  Their panel of international design experts judged the entries and selected the Bentley for their prestigious Gold award.  The Speed 6 was selected for its “timeless, iconic Bentley design, clever use of new materials and aesthetic dynamism.”

Commenting on Bentley’s baby, panel judge Johannes Barckmann, commented, “The designers of the EXP 10 Speed 6 achieved a fantastic reinterpretation of the British legend. This is particularly apparent when looking at the interior. The door panels are not covered with leather, but instead with high-quality wood.”

Accepting the award for Bentley were Bentley’s Director of Design, Stefan Sielaff, Head of Exterior Design, SangYup Lee, Head of Interior Design and Colour and Trim, Romulus Rost and Head of Modelling and Design Operations, Kevin Baker.

The Speed 6 has been extremely well received around the globe by the media and by customers.  Bentley is expecting to gain approval for production soon.  The car will launch as a hybrid with the option to run in electric only mode.  (Read about Bentley’s electric vehicle ambitions)  Thanks to platform sharing with sister companies, the ground breaking car could be available by 2020.

It should also be mentioned that Bentley’s existing lineup was also recognized.  The Flying Spur and the Continental GT Speed, both which were refreshed in 2015 with new interior features and exterior styling cues, also received special mentions from the German Design Awards judging panels.
