While I was busy getting away to a quiet lake in Minnesota where the internet was so poor that I could only text twitter updates, Bentley was busy rolling out the 2017 Bentley Continental GT Speed in New York.
Last week with partners Breitling and Absolute Racing at their side, the Crewe, England, based company brought several of their Continental GT models to their Manhattan studio. Making the trip were the Continental GT Speed Convertible, the GT Speed and the GT Speed Black Edition. Bentley Team Absolute Racing also had their #87 Bentley Continental GT3 race car for the night.
The 2017 Speed model is the most powerful Continental ever produced. Horsepower is up 7 from the 2016 model, while torque is up 15 lb ft. Although unconfirmed by Bentley, this could be the crown jewel of the 2nd generation Continental GT as it is expected to be replaced in 2018 or 2019 by the third generation Continental GT.
For the first time, the GT Speed is available in a Black Edition, which darkens the normally-blingy coupé’s trim with gloss black paint. This trim option has been available as the Concours Edition on the V8 Continentals previously and has proven very popular with customers.
Bentley also announced the MSRP for each model:
GT Speed: $240,300
GT Speed Black Edition: $253,235
GT Speed Convertible: $264,300
GT Speed Convertible: Black Edition: $277,235
The cars are available for order today with late summer/ early fall delivery times.
