Rolls-Royce is back with another bespoke model. This time the team at Rolls went to work on a 2015 Rolls-Royce Wraith to come up with the “Inspired by Music” edition. This is a follow-on to two recent editions, the “Inspired by Fashion” and the “Inspired by Film.”
The Wraith “Inspired by Music” is a combination of past and present for the Rolls-Royce. The special’s title comes from the customizable car audio options that Wraith buyers have and the famous musicians who have famously owned Rolls-Royce. These famous Rock & Roller customers range from Keith Moon, drummer for The Who, who accidentally beached his Rolls-Royce in a swimming pool, to John Lennon’s psychedelic painted Phantom and the famous Elvis Presley and his Phantom V.
As the name states, this Wraith is all about the sound system. The car runs the same powertrain and offers the same features as the standard Wraith. Where it differs is in the extraordinary interior treatments. From the speaker grills to the dashboard, the “Inspired by Music” pushes copper front and center. The detail goes all the way down to the clock which features a combination of copper and silver colors styled into a clock bezel that emulates the look of a vinyl record.
But let’s talk about that sound system! 1300W, 18 channels, two subs, seven tweeters and seven mid range speakers. In addition there two more speakers hand-fitted into the headliner that assist in delivering sound directly into the passengers’ ears. The system is aided by microphones that monitor interior and exterior noises and dynamically adjust the sound and two improve sound quality.
According to Rolls-Royce, it was a two year process to complete the development of the sound system. The highest priority was given to the sound quality to the point that interior designer had to check in the Chief Audio Engineer before making and changes to the Wriath’s interior.
We should also mention the “Inspired by Music’s” paint color. The exterior is an amazing deep, copper color called A Lyrical Copper. See what they did there? The color reflects the interiors color scheme perfectly. Rolls-Royce used a nice blend of satin and polished finishes to emulate the look of high end home stereo units.
CEO Torsten Müller Ötvös said about his company’s latest creation. “Wraith ‘Inspired by Music’ appeals to those looking to Rolls-Royce for unique and creative motor cars. Its effortlessly cool appearance complements the superior Bespoke Audio system; the contemporary use of copper creates an atmospheric setting for the most encompassing music system on the market.” No word on how much demand there is for such a sound system or the MSRP for this custom Rolls.
